WHAT IS FLOAT THERAPY?

Float therapy is a practice used to reach deep meditative relaxation or rest. Achieved in a sensory deprivation tank you emerge yourself in a combination of magnesium Epsom salt and warm water set at the human body’s natural temperature of 36 degrees. You simply lay back and immediately become completely weightless. 


Scientists estimate that up to 90% of the brain's normal workload is caused by the effects of routine environmental stimulation, the combined effects of gravity, temperature, touch, light and sound on the muscles, nervous system and sense organs of the body.

The float tank blocks out the external active stimuli and senses creating a pure state of "sensory" relaxation. Under these unique conditions your body has a chance to restore its natural powers of self-regulation, while you simply lie back and rediscover the unrealised abilities of a deeply relaxed mind.

FLOAT THERAPY & PREGNANCY

The main and probably most important reason floating is beneficial during pregnancy is the immense pain relief. When she is suspended in the magnesium filled water she becomes weightless. Floating has incredible relief for women suffering from sciatica. It is also a fantastic opportunity for pregnant women to lie comfortably on her back without the worry of putting any pressure on the Vena cava. Another element to consider when floating whilst pregnant is the belief that when the mothers’ body is suspended in the float tank it is a similar experience to what the baby is experiencing in the womb. We recommend first time floaters allow themselves the hour session in which they can adjust to their surroundings and become comfortable within the tank. 


Upon your appointment you are provided with all bathroom amenities including toiletries fresh towels and robes and a blow dryer for your convenience. Swimwear is optional but we recommend floating without for maximum experience and protection of your swimwear (due to the high level of salt it can fade or harm swimmers if you do choose to wear bathers we suggest an older pair)


Before you float we ask you to:

· Avoid shaving before as the salt can sting the area.

· Avoid floating on an empty stomach or an over full stomach.

· Avoid stimulants such as caffeine, pre work out supplements, alcohol etc.
